The Global Grand Finale of the Global Startup Awards (GSA) concluded on the 25th of September 2024, with remarkable success. 15 African innovators, previously announced as ConKnental Winners in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, competed with the best startups from +120 countries for the global Ktle.
This prestigious event, held at Esma Sultan, a historic palace located on the shores of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, recognised the most promising and innovative startups and ecosystem stakeholders from around the world. The awards’ recipients were celebrated for their vision, resilience, and contributions to advancing technology and entrepreneurship on a global scale.
Following Africa’s historic triumph last year (March 20203) in Copenhagen, where Ethiopian startup; Kubik and Ugandan startup; Emata took home the Ktles of Startup of the Year and Best Newcomer, respectively, Africa has once again made its mark on the world stage.
This year, the African continent proudly celebrates four winners, excelling in the following categories:
- Best Web3.0 & AI Startup: MoMint (South Africa)
- Best Green Tech: BasiGo (Kenya)
- Best Coworking Space: TechBuzz Hub (Uganda)
- Founder of the Year: Freeziana, Hadeer Shalaby (Egypt)
These outstanding achievements further prove Africa’s position as a hub of innovation and ingenuity, demonstrating the potential of the continent’s startups to solve global challenges and drive impactful change.

This year’s completion witnessed receiving a remarkable +36,000 total Number of nominations from across +120 countries, showcasing the immense global reach of this edition—an edition in which a record-breaking total of 340 000 votes were received.
